Former Alabama running back Altee Tenpenny has died in a car crash.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Tenpenny hit a road sign at about 5pm Tuesday evening.
From AL.com:
The collision sent the vehicle airborne and it started rolling once it landed back on the ground, according to Corporal Tony Dunn of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Department of Public Affairs. The vehicle collided with a utility pole and Tenpenny was ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency personnel rushed Tenpenny to Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville, Miss. where he passed away from injuries sustained in the one-car crash. He was the only person injured in the wreck.

Tenpenny was no longer with Alabama at the time. In fact, reports indicate that he was driving home from being dismissed by his current team, Nicholls State, when the crash occurred.
His suspension from the Nicholls State team was prompted by his arrest for possession of a firearm, reports Yahoo Sports.
Tenpenny spent two years at Alabama and briefly transferred to UNLV before being dismissed there for an unspecified rules violation.
His former teammates took to Twitter to share condolences:
