Update: A Klout spokesperson offers, “Klout doesn’t comment on rumor or speculation.”
Klout is reportedly about to be acquired by Lithium Technologies for at least $100 million. This is according to Re/code’s Kara Swisher and Liz Gannes, both generally reliable sources of such stories.
Neither company has commented on or confirmed the deal yet, but Re/code’s sources say it is “signed but not closed.”
Klout just launched a reimagined version of its service last week, which includes a social news aggregator designed to recommend users content that will help them boost their influence on certain topics, which of course is the whole point of Klout to begin with.
Klout CEO Joe Fernandez told us about how the product is the first from the company that actually helps its users. He also said more features are on the way. Funny, he didn’t mention anything about an acquisition.
We’ve reached out to Klout for comment, and will update if and when we hear back.
