  • Generally speaking, children books are intended to teach a lesson of some sort. They can also be used to inspire our children to follow their dreams. A new book from Carla Diana does both.

A new children’s book called Leo the Maker Prince is the first book about 3D printing that’s targeted towards children. The plot follows a young girl named Carla who meets up with a robot named Leo. Throughout their journey, Leo uses the power of 3D printing to bring Carla’s drawings to life.

While it’s a cute concept, it also has an agenda. Diana says that she hopes her book inspires children to become makers early in their life. The 3D printing revolution is already here, but the children of today can turn that revolution into a global movement that inspires everybody to become a maker.

To help those maker aspirations along, Diana made sure that every object in Leo the Maker Prince can be 3D printed. So if you have a 3D printer and a child, you can print the objects in the book to help stoke your child’s maker aspirations. You can find all the 3D printable files here.

If you want to check out the book, you can do so here. While you’re at it, you might want to check out the interview with the author below:
