BrightCove Partners with LG on Content for Smart TVs

Brightcove and LG Electronics have announced a partnership to expand online video content on LG’s Smart TVs. "The deal enables Brighcove’s 2,700+ customers – brands including New York Times, Fox, A&E – to extend their reach into the living room via LG’s Smart TVs, while LG is able to increase the high-quality online video content available through apps on these TVs," a spokesperson for Brightcove tells WebProNews.

Owners of Android smartphones made by LG may soon begin to lead the way when it comes to mobile 3D video.  YouTube and LG announced a partnership this morning that will result in users being able to view, record, and share 3D clips without glasses.

Compared to needing spectacles and being limited to a handful of special big screens, this arrangement should provide viewers with a more convenient experience.  It also promises to increase the selection of content available.

Apple Tops In Smartphone Satisfaction

The average amount of time people keep their cell phone has increased by 17 percent from 2009, according to a new study from J.D. Power and Associates.

 People are keeping their mobile devices for an average of 20.5 months, which is the longest period off time since the study began in 1999, when the average was 17.3 months. The current level of ownership does differ by brand, with the highest ownership at an average of 27.8 months, and the lowest at 17.5 months.

New Smartphones, Tablet on the Way from LG

LG plans to launch 10 new smartphones and sell five million devices by the end of the year. In addition they will launch a tablet by the fourth quarter under the Optimus line. This is all according to the Wall Street Journal.

DivX Rolls Out Online TV Platform At CES

Digital media company, DivX, said today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, it is introducing an embedded Internet TV platform called DivX TV, which offers access to online media content streamed directly to any connected device.

DivX TV does not require a PC or a set-top box to access online content. The platform can be supported on almost any kind of Internet connected device, including digital televisions, blu-ray players and gaming consoles.
