Excitement surrounding the new iPhone 3GS sent blog mentions up 1,226 percent week-over-week on June 8, the day of the announcement. Google said today that the number of videos filmed on mobile phones and uploaded to YouTube has increased 400 percent since the release of Apple’s iPhone 3GS last Friday.

The new device allows users to film video clips and upload them wirelessly to YouTube.

The increase is part of an overall trend with mobile uploads to YouTube surging by 1,700 percent in the last six months.
