comScore Media Metrix released its top 50 web properties list for August this week, and found that educational sites and humor sites were quite popular for the month. Home sites also saw some significant gains.

The monthly comScore, Hitwise, and Nielsen reports concerning search market share are sometimes predictable to the point that it's almost possible to write about them ahead of time: "Google does well. Everything else, not so much." comScore found that Bing managed to beat the competition in August, however.
Omniture and comScore Join Forces For Online Metrics

It seems that getting itself acquired by Adobe isn’t enough to keep the web analytics giant Omniture busy.
Omniture And comScore Partner On Web Analytics
Omniture and comScore have formed a partnership aimed at providing advertisers and publishers with a more comprehensive view of online data.
The partnership will combine Omniture's method of analyzing web traffic by looking at data collected by servers with comScore's panel based audience measurement.
Previously the two methodologies had different objectives and used contrasting data collection technologies, resulting in metrics that caused confusion among publishers and advertisers.
Google Huge in Brazil and India
Numbers from comScore this week, revealed that Google sites account for nearly 30% of all time spent online in India and Brazil. That is three times higher than the average.
Yahoo Games Popular In Japan
Japan's online gaming population has increased 28 percent over the past year to 16.5 million visitors in July 2009, and reaching nearly one fourth of Japan's online population, according to a new report from comScore.
"As a growing number of people turn to the Internet as an entertainment channel, many online gaming sites have seen their traffic levels swell to record numbers," said Maru Sato, managing director of comScore Japan.

comScore has released some new numbers for the global search market. The highlight of the findings is that the market draws over 100 billion searches per month.
To be more specific, over 113 billion searches were conducted in July. This is a whopping 41% increase from a year ago. Obviously, Google sites received the bulk of these searches.
