Billboard has launched a chart app on the iPhone, aimed at music fans, artists and people in the industry.

The Billboard Chart App features 15 charts from the Hot 100 and Billboard 200, along with genre rankings and ringtones.

 

Billboard to Track Artists’ Popularity On Facebook And Twitter

Billboard has introduced a new chart offering called the “Social 50,” which ranks the most popular artists on social networking sites.

The Social 50 chart will track artists’ popularity using a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and song plays on MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and iLike. Data from these sites is gathered and provided to Billboard by social music tracking service Next Big Sound.

Since "American Idol" for the first time has made downloads of performers songs available on iTunes, winner, David Cook has enjoyed great success.

Cook’s "The Time of My Life," has been downloaded 236,000 times, reaching the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Digital Songs chart and reaching the number three position on the Billboard Hot 100.
