The FeedBurner re-design has been in beta testing for a few months now, but does it make the service better?

I’m a big fan of FeedBurner and I really like the new look and feel as it’s much cleaner and matches other Google products, however since it’s so familiar, it feels a little lacking.

Cloud-based online video platform Brightcove has launched a new version today – Brightcove 5. This comes with increased mobile support, YouTube Sync, Apple HTTP streaming, advanced analytics for HTML5, and more.

In late June, Apigee launched a Facebook API Console, which enabled Facebook developers to learn, debug, interact with and develop on Facebook’s Open Graph API in a more simplified way. Now, the company (formerly Sonoa Systems) has launched a new  line of developer tools.

IBM to Acquire Netezza for $1.7 Billion

IBM announced it is acquiring Netezza at $27 per share or approximately $1.7 billion, to expand its business analytics initiatives.

Netezza provides analytics in a data warehousing appliance. IBM says that the combined strengths of the companies are a "key differentiator at a time when organizations of all sizes are looking to gain more insight from their business information."

 

Twitter Acquires Analytics Company Smallthought Systems

Twitter announced that it has acquired Smallthought Systems, the creators of Dabble DB, an online database Twitter has used in the past to track and share information about projects internally.

"Every day millions of people use Twitter to create, share and discover information, and as we grow, analytics becomes an increasingly crucial part of improving our service," says Twitter Analytics Lead Kevin Weil.

Omniture And comScore Partner On Web Analytics

Omniture and comScore have formed a partnership aimed at providing advertisers and publishers with a more comprehensive view of online data.

The partnership will combine Omniture’s method of analyzing web traffic by looking at data collected by servers with comScore’s panel based audience measurement.

Previously the two methodologies had different objectives and used contrasting data collection technologies, resulting in metrics that caused confusion among publishers and advertisers.

Google Adds Heavily Requested Features to Analytics API

Google has released some new features for the Google Analytics API, including event tracking, navigational data, and increased filter length. The company says these features were prioritized based on feedback from users, with event tracking being the most requested feature.

Event tracking allows users to measure the number of user interactions with a site. You can track things like the total number of times a white paper is downloaded, the length of time it takes to load a video, the number of validation errors users get when filling out a form, etc.

Adobe Seeks to Expand its Analytics Horizons
