Bethesda has been more aggressive than usual in post-game support for Skyrim which has led to some amazing new features like archer and magic kill cams. One of the latest upgrades came in the form of mounted combat for the PC version, but now that update has hit the Xbox 360.

Bethesda announced today that the 1.6 update for Skyrim has hit the Xbox 360. The major addition as mentioned is mounted combat. This allows players to fight with melee or ranged weapons while riding a horse. It doesn’t clarify if ranged combat means just bows or if magic is an option as well.

The other big addition with 1.6 is that it readies the Xbox 360 version of the game for the first DLC expansion for Skyrim, Dawnguard. In it, the player is tasked with joining a group of vampires or the Dawnguard to either blot out the sun or protect the mass of incandescent gas up in the sky.

Here’s the full change list:

It remains to be seen when this update will hit the PlayStation 3 version of the game. It shouldn’t be too much longer as Bethesda is pretty good about keeping on top of this stuff.

Here’s hoping the next major update brings that giant mudcrab battle that we saw at DICE. Skyrim could use some legendary monsters like the ones that were in Fallout: New Vegas.

The mounted combat actually pisses me off. I play as a mage and since they didn’t allow for spell casting on a horse, this add-on is completely useless to me. If they’re going to add something like this it should be good for all character types. One more reason why Bethesda is losing it’s place on my list of favorite video game producers.

all of these updates are beast, if you only play skyrim once threw with a mage you shouldnt bother playing skyrim, make multiple characters and follow different paths, enjoy the full game not just a small part.

That’s not the point, I have already played through with every character type, but I happen to favor being a Necromancer who fries people with lightning, and it’s a bit annoying when I’m traveling and I’m attacked and I have to dismount my horse and start fighting.

I don’t need advice from someone who sounds like they have never even touched any of the previous Elder Scrolls games…

Im just mad that this update, along with dawnguard is taking almost 2 months and counting to reach the PSN, it seems like bethesda forgot a market or something because two months is a long disappointing time
