Mega Millions Produces No Winner Tuesday
7, 12, 41, 44 and 59, Mega Ball 3.
No player matched all six numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing (though one lucky player from Missouri matched the first five numbers for a $1 million prize). This means the Mega Millions jackpot on Friday will jump to $291 million.
Had the $1 million Missouri winner purchased their ticket with the Megaplier option for an extra $1 per play, their prize would have been increased to $3 million, because the Megaplier number drawn was 3.
Should someone win Friday’s drawing, it will be the biggest payout since March 2012 when the prize equaled $656 million, the largest jackpot in U.S. history. At that time, the prize was split among winners in Maryland, Kansas, and Illinois.
If a one player matches all six numbers on Friday and chooses the cash option, he or she would receive a single payout of $157 million before taxes.
According to the Lottery Post, Mega Millions is currently offered in 43 states, plus Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Drawings are held Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 pm Eastern Time. Tickets cost $1 each.
The chances of winning are 1 in 176 million. The odds of winning any of the Mega Millions prizes are approximately 1 in 40.
Four times this year, the Powerball jackpot has passed the $300 million mark.
