Lamar Odom took his first unassisted steps without the use of a walker this weekend, marking the first time the former NFL star has walked since he accidentally overdosed in October.

TMZ reports this is a huge step in the slow progress Lamar Odom has made since he was found unresponsive in a Nevada brothel back on October 13.

It seems Odom's cognitive functions may be returning--however slowly.

"He gets better a little bit every day," a source told Us Weekly on Sunday. "He took a few steps without the walker. It's very slow and he’s supposed to go to the rehab any day now."

Since he was first hospitalized, Khloe Kardashian has been a constant presence at Lamar Odom's bedside. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star even withdrew her divorce petition she had filed over a year before.

That isn't an indication of a reconciliation between the two, however. Khloe simply didn't want Lamar to worry about anything other than getting well.

Word of Lamar Odom taking his first steps since October is certainly encouraging, especially in light of a recent report that said he often couldn't remember his name.

Hopefully Lamar continues making progress in what will no doubt be a lengthy--and difficult--battle.
