Nielsen has revealed their latest numbers for smartphone usage and we have officially reached the 50% mark.

Last year in february, the number of smartphone users was only at 36%. Essentially, almost 70% of all new cell phone wireless plan subscribers opted smartphones as their device of choice.

Interestingly Apple has almost a one-third share of the smartphone market, but Android-based devices still dominate with nearly half, but it looks like Apple’s numbers are on the rise. Recent subscribers chose iPhone well over 40% of the time.
