  • ComComedy, a new internet comedy channel that will screen exclusive standup and comedy festival content, is set to launch next month.

ComComedyTV has operated as a Youtube channel for the past two years, but will commence broadcasting from its own website, beginning on April 12th. All footage, even backlogged, can be viewed for free, and users aren’t required to register.

Comedians including Jimmy Carr, Griff Rhys Jones and Jon Richardson have so far appeared on the channel, and ComComedy hopes to be the largest archive of comedy circuit videos existing on the internet. The content will also include artist profiles, interviews, session gig clips and exclusive footage of unconventional location recordings.

ComComedy was founded in 2009 – the main competition would be the site Funny or Die, where users upload their own content – after 5 years online, the site generates about $40 million in revenue annually, and is worth rougly $300 million.
