Zooey Deschanel doesn’t know. Frustrating, I know.

She isn’t going to find out if her baby will be a boy or a girl until he or she is born.

Zooey Deschanel paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! and looked adorable as usual in a little red dress that covered her little baby bump.

As a first time mom, Zooey Deschanel and her fiance Jacob Pechenik are newbies when it comes to the ins and outs of pregnancy.

Zooey Deschanel had they waiting game in common with Jimmy Kimmel, who also waited until his kids were born before he found out the gender.

In fact, Jimmy Kimmel asked Zooey Deschanel about a common issue that many couples face when they wait to find out their baby’s gender.

It seems that sometimes a technician or nurse will sometimes slip and use “he” or “she” and accidentally reveal what the baby is.

But, so far, Zooey Deschanel has been lucky.

She said, “The last time the technician was like, ‘Just so you know I always use the pronoun ‘he’ and it’s just because that’s my habit.”

As far as her pregnancy diet goes, Zooey Deschanel is much more lenient than her pregnant sister, Bones star Emily Deschanel, who practices a strict vegan diet.

“I eat some vegan meals, though,” Zooey Deschanel said, laughing. “Sometimes you’re hungry and you want food that’s not vegan.”

The problem, according to Zooey Deschanel, is that there are already so many dietary restrictions when pregnant. Why would you want more?

Zooey Deschanel said, “You can’t have sushi. You can’t have cheese that tastes good. I would have like four cups [of coffee] a day. Now I can have a half cup, which is a joke.”

She added, “You can’t have alcohol. I miss that. I like wine.”
