The YouTube TV team has taken to Reddit to update users on some significant improvements to the streaming service.

In a post titled “April Update from YouTube,” the company outlines several improvements and bug fixes.

The first bug fix involves the Apple TV:

Since our last post, we’ve rolled out a major update (1.13+) for Apple TV. These fixes should resolve the issues with the app opening up to a black screen, enable YouTube TV’s HDR implementation, and address some 4k playback issues.

Another big fix is regarding audo/video sync issues:

After extensive investigation, we believe we’ve narrowed down the primary cause of the a/v sync issues when surround sound is turned on and will be testing a fix soon.

The company also promises some updates to the new Multiview feature ahead of NFL season.

Speaking of the NFL, YTTV has also made it easier to sign up for NFL Sunday Ticket via the “Memberships” page in the YTTV settings.

Finally, the service is experimenting with increasing the bitrate of 1080p video:

We’re testing transcoding changes, including a bitrate increase for live 1080p content over the next several weeks. These will target devices that support the VP9 codec with high-speed internet connections. If these go well, we plan to make them permanent by this summer. More info to come!

Overall, these are welcome improvements to what is already the best live TV streaming service on the market.
