Yahoo announced today that it will be a founding partner for Levi’s Stadium, the future home of the San Francisco 49ers. Yahoo will also be the exclusive sports content, social networking and photo/video sharing partner for the team.
“That means we’ll be playing an essential role in enhancing the in-stadium entertainment experience with our popular photo and video sharing site, Flickr, and Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football,” says Yahoo Chief Marketing Officer Kathy Savitt.
That Tumblr acquisition, which Yahoo also just announced is now complete, could come in handy there.
“We’re helping to create a Fantasy Football lounge within the stadium that will include viewing platforms, fantasy integrations and lots of fun,” says Savitt. “Fans will be able to experience Flickr throughout the stadium at various concourse booths and upload their photos to the 49ers Flickr photo gallery with the chance to be featured on one of the big screens and be a part of the game.”
The stadium will host Super Bowl 50.
Yahoo recently launched a new Yahoo Sports app. More on that here.
