In a recent interview with Vulture, director Michelle McLaren revealed that the much-ballyhooed Wonder Woman project from Warner Bros. is not on as sure a footing s everyone had let on.

According to McLaren, there is no script. There is no release date, There has not even been an official green light on the film from Warner Bros. McLaren refused to say anything more than that. She is under non-disclosure agreements with Warner Bros.

“I really, really, really can’t talk about this,” she said. “I just picture a drone coming in over the hills and crashing through the glass and flying over here and putting duct tape over my mouth, you know?”

What we do know is that Israeli model and actress Gal Godot is tapped to be Wonder Woman, reprising a role she is already handling for the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film.

McLaren went on to talk about other projects she has done, including Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones. She’s even up for the new Better Call Saul. The director is known for getting stunning images to screen in less time than most would take to accomplish half.

“When I think of Michelle, I think of very striking, cinematic, visual storytelling,” says Breaking Bad‘s Vince Gilligan. “I think of bold action sequences that are balletic.”

It was McLaren who doused Rick and Glenn in blood so they could escape zombies in the first season of Walking Dead. It was McLaren who handled the Gus Fring’s revenge against the Cartel in Breaking Bad. It was McLaren who pulled Hank Schrader through the assassination attempt by The Cousins in that parking lot.

You’ve seen her handiwork. If she gets the green light and a script from Warners, she is sure to take Wonder Woman to places that only Joss Whedon has been in the other camp.

“I approach an action sequence almost like a mathematical problem,” MacLaren says. “Sometimes you get these action sequences that you read and go, ‘Oh my God, this is huge, how do I do it?’ and I go, ‘Just a step at a time. Sit down and plot each piece of it out.’”
