Here’s something for individuals who have expressed concern about Twitter’s underwhelming financial achievements: three and a half years after the company was officially founded, Adam Bain has been appointed Twitter’s president of revenue.

Bain previously enjoyed the title "President, Audience Network" at Fox Interactive Media.  He’s worked for Fox Sports, the Los Angeles Times, and Cleveland.com, too.

Otherwise, interesting tidbits include the fact that Bain’s accumulated more than 500 connections on LinkedIn, and also that photos on his MySpace profile put him next to Hulk Hogan and Bill Clinton (even as he declared Rupert Murdoch one of his heroes).

Twitter LogoAnyway, to return to the matter at hand: Michael Arrington, who first reported the move, wrote this afternoon, "Bain is a proven executive at building advertising and monetization products that leverage data and software to create revenue.  It’s a good fit."

Twitter investor Chris Sacca also added in the comments section, "I couldn’t be more thrilled about Bain joining Twitter.  The monetization team has been killing it across all of their initiatives and thus it is fun to have someone as accomplished as Adam coming in to grow that group and launch some of the new stuff that has been in the pipeline.  An amazing talent combined with an attitude that fits the Twitter culture well.  Stoked."

This development should thrill Twitter fans and at least placate critics, then.
