TSA: Checked Luggage Included 81 Lbs Of Marijuana

It is a situation where the jokes truly write themselves. One would be surprised if the Transportation Security Administration officers who checked bags at Oakland International Airport didn’t make every one of them on Friday.

That’s when a 26-year-old woman got the bright idea to pack not one, but three suitcases full of marijuana and then attempt to get the items through airport security and on a plane.

You read that correctly: This person expected to make it home to Jackson, Mississippi from Oakland, California after stopovers in Phoenix, Arizona and Dallas, Texas with three suitcases full of weed.

Yes, we do live in a world where airport security is concerned about terrorism. Yes, a little pot on one’s person would be far less of a concern to most TSA officers than a deranged lunatic with an explosive device.

But…who the HELL packs 81 lbs of marijuana in three suitcases and decides they are going to get on an airplane?

Nevermind get on an airplane and fly from Point A to Point B to Point C to Point D with no issues whatsoever.

Can we safely assume this woman sampled the product ahead of this grand scheme?

When speaking to Fox 4 about this bizarre situation, TSA spokesman Ross Feinstein shared that the “TSA screens every bag placed on an airplane, whether taken as carry-on or checked with an airline.”

If the officers checking bags happen across something that looks suspicious (like 81 lbs of pot), they turn the matter over to local authorities.

The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office was able to take the marijuana into custody and to the surprise of absolutely nobody, the unidentified suspect was arrested and criminally charged.

She no doubt was informed of her right to remain silent. Let’s hope she she waived it and shared the story behind this no-so-brilliant bit of decision making.
