Tinder Has a New CEO: Ex-eBay Exec Chris Payne

Swipe left/swipe right dating app Tinder has a new CEO.

Chris Payne is the new top dog at Tinder, which just recently unveiled a brand new tiered premium service. He’s replacing outgoing CEO and founder Sean Rad.

Payne most recently served as SVP of North American operations at eBay, a position he left in December of 2014 after more than four years with the company. Before that, Payne worked for Microsoft and Amazon.

According to Re/code, Rad will stay on as company President and will lead product and marketing. Rad was ousted in October of last year, reportedly due in part to a sexual harassment lawsuit that plagued the company for a good while. He stayed on as CEO until a replacement was found. That time is now.

Tinder grew up a bit earlier this month when it unveiled Tinder Plus, its new subscription service. It gives users access to extra features, as well as allows them to keep the unlimited “likes” all Tinder users have enjoyed until now. The company priced the premium service higher for older users, a move that drew criticism but the company described as a way to get younger, cash-strapped users on board.
