Things are a lot different than when I was a kid. We didn’t have all this wonderful technology available to us, so it comes as no surprise to me that kids are spending a ridiculous amount of time online. In fact, we are all spending a lot of time online.

So what are kids doing with all this time? According to this infographic from online college, they are spending it doing a lot of video related activities.

Pew Research found that 95% of children age twelve to seventeen use the internet. 37% use video chat, 27% record and upload videos, and 13% stream live videos.

This graphic is packed with fun demographic statistics about which kids are most likely to take advantage of these wonderful trends in online video. The factors that come into play include household income, education level of parents, where they live, and their age.

It’s worth taking a look at. I think the overarching theme here is that everyone is taking advantage of the technology, but economic factors play a critical role in who has access to certain mediums. Considering that we know these technologies are going to play a critical role in our children’s education and subsequent success in life, shouldn’t we be trying to devise ways to equalize the playing field?
