Tebow Trade Rumors Persist; Peyton Manning Officially A Bronco

With the recent imminent deal between Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos, the sports world has been flooded with speculation and rumors as to what the team will do with their current quarterback, Tim Tebow. Now that the announcement has been officially made that Manning is a Bronco, that speculation has only increased, due mainly in part to comments reportedly made by John Elway at today’s press conference, including his opinion that the Broncos would not be a “super bowl team” with Tebow starting.

Several teams are said to be interested in acquiring Tebow should he be released from Denver despite his recent reputation for erratic performance, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, which would place him in familiar territory. While no decisions have been made yet as to his fate, the talk of trades has swept around the NFL and was addressed in the press conference today.

“I know what kind of player Tim Tebow is, what kind of person he is, what an awesome year it was,” Manning said. “If Tim Tebow is here, I’m going to be the best teammate. If other opportunities are presented to him, I’m going to wish him the best.”

The 5-year, $96 million deal came with other perks for Manning as well; famed Broncos quarterback Frank Tripucka reportedly asked Peyton to take his old football number–18–so the team has brought it out of retirement just for him.

With so much in the news about Manning and his move to Denver, hype has spread to Twitter, where an unverified personal account for the athlete has been set up.
