The book, simply titled Steve Jobs, written by Walter Isaacson has been much anticipated for quite some time, and after news came out about the death of Steve Jobs, the release was pushed up. Today is the day. It’s now available at bookstores, online, in the Kindle Store, the iTunes Store, etc.

The bio is based on hundreds of interviews with family members, friends, competitors, colleagues, etc., and over 40 with Jobs himself.

Steve Jobs Book

“Although Jobs cooperated with this book, he asked for no control over what was written nor even the right to read it before it was published,” the Amazon product description says. “He put nothing off-limits. He encouraged the people he knew to speak honestly. And Jobs speaks candidly, sometimes brutally so, about the people he worked with and competed against. His friends, foes, and colleagues provide an unvarnished view of the passions, perfectionism, obsessions, artistry, devilry, and compulsion for control that shaped his approach to business and the innovative products that resulted.”

Speaking of that vocal “brutality,” we looked at some words from Jobs and Bill Gates about one another from the book the other day.

Biographer Isaacson is the CEO of Aspen Institute, and has been Chairman of CNN, as well as the managing editor of Time Magazine. He’s also written a bio of Ben Franklin.

The book is 656 pages long, so it should be a pretty good read.
