The Estée Lauder Companies this week grew larger with the acquisition of a premium skin care products company. Estée Lauder announced today that it has acquired RODIN olio lusso.
The specific terms of the acquisition were not released. Estée Lauder did, however, state that the new brand will be handled by The Estée Lauder Companies Group President John Demsey.
“RODIN olio lusso is the ultimate ‘insider’ beauty brand,” said Fabrizio Freda, CEO of Estée Lauder. “With its luxurious product line and strong creative point of view, we believe it has the potential to be a high-growth global skin care brand that strategically enhances our portfolio. Linda is truly an authentic creative force and has an incredible entrepreneurial spirit. I am thrilled to welcome her and her brand to The Estée Lauder Companies.”
RODIN olio lusso was founded in 2007 by Linda Rodin, a stylist and former model from New York. Rodin started her company in her Manhattan apartment, mixing oils into beauty products and bringing the results to those present at her modeling shoots. This eventually made the brand into an underground success in the fashion industry.
The RODIN olio lusso brand now includes products such as body oil, hand cream, perfume, soap, body cream, hair oil, and scented candles. The brand’s flagship product is its The Luxury Face Oil, which the company claims is created through a combination of eleven flower and botanical oils. Combinations of those oils form the basis of the larger RODIN olio lusso product line.
“The guiding philosophy of my brand has always been that ‘there is beauty in simplicity,’” said Rodin. “The Estée Lauder Companies not only shares and embraces the core values that I’ve instilled into my business, but also has an amazing track record of nurturing and growing prestige brands while maintaining – and encouraging – the spark that makes them so unique. The Estée Lauder Companies is truly the perfect home for RODIN olio lusso.”
