  • The Boulder International Film Festival will welcome Academy Award winning actress Shirley MacLaine as their guest of honor on Saturday February 15, at 7:30 p.m., during the 10-year celebration, of the event.

“There’s nobody better than Shirley MacLaine,” said Robin Beeck in an interview with the Denver Post. “She’s multi-talented spiritual and dynamic, a writer, a singer, a dancer. I don’t know what she’s not done.”

MacLaine is not only known for her acting career, she is also a best-selling author and self-proclaimed musical theater “gypsy”. MacLaine will be receiving the Career Achievement Award and will take part in A Tribute to Shirley MacLaine, during the event.

We are thrilled to be honoring Ms. MacLaine with our “Career Achievement Award” at the festival this year,” Kathy Beeck, said in a statement. “She is by far one of the most celebrated and multi-talented actors in Hollywood history and we can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award.”

Along with her Oscar wins, MacLaine has won six Golden Globe Awards and, in 2012, she was given the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award. While she is probably best known for her role in Terms of Endearment, her other notable works include Steel Magnolias, The Trouble With Harry, Postcards From the Edge, The Pajama Game, Oklahoma, and In Her Shoes.

Shirley MacLaine’s illustrious career comprises nearly 50 feature films highlighted by an Academy Award win and six nominations, six Emmy Awards nominations, seven Golden Globe Awards – including the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award – and an international best-selling author title. Ms. MacLaine was honored with the prestigious American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award in June of 2012 and Kennedy Center Honors in 2013. Her film credits include “The Apartment,” “Sweet Charity,” “Terms of Endearment,” “Steel Magnolias,” “Postcards from the Edge,” and “Bernie,” among many others.

Tickets to the event are $30 and on sale at BIFF1.com or through the Boulder Theater via bouldertheater.com or 866-625-4586.
