Former Disney star Shia LaBeouf has made some interesting choices recently when it comes to acting; earlier this year, he starred in a Sigur Ros video that required him to show some full-frontal nudity and learn a complicated, detailed interpretive dance, and his next project is a Lars von Trier vehicle called “Nymphomaniac” which will see him involved in actual sex with another actor.
Since he took the part, rumors have been flying that his girlfriend of two years, Karolyn Pho, is upset at the thought of her boyfriend having sex with someone else, even if it is just for a film. Now, it looks like the couple has split, and all signs are pointing to “Nymphomaniac” as the reason.
Reports from back in the summer said that Pho had a talk with Lars von Trier, asking him to change the script in order to have LaBeouf simulate the sex scenes rather than get truly intimate, but the director refused. Apparently LaBeouf isn’t willing to give up a choice role for love, either; he spoke earlier this year about his excitement over working with von Trier, whom he calls “dangerous”.
“[Von Trier] is very dangerous,” he said. “He’s the most dangerous dude that I’ve ever showed up for. I’m terrified. I’m so terrified, which is why I have to go. We’ll see what happens.”
