  • Did Selena Gomez ditch her time in an Arizona rehab facility to attend the Sundance Film Festival? Some sources claim she left before her rehab stint was through in order to promote her upcoming film Rudderless which premiered at the festival.

The rehab facility–Arizona’s Dawn at the Meadows–allows 72-hour passes, and an insider says this was arranged at the onset of Selena Gomez’s rehab stay. The insider also says Selena felt really good while at Sundance–due to her stay in rehab–and decided she was strong enough to return to L.A.

“She felt she took some time she needed away from L.A. and was ready to go back after Sundance,” the source said.

The Come & Get It singer and off again, on again love interest of Justin Bieber wasn’t in rehab for any kind of addiction reasons.

“Selena voluntarily spent time at Meadows but not for substance abuse,” her rep said in an earlier statement.

The former Wizards of Waverly Place star was on ‘social media hiatus’ during her time in rehab, however, since the program at the facility prohibited the use of cell phones. She was allowed to make one phone call per day during the duration of her stay.

Those who have seen Selena Gomez since her time in rehab say she looks and seems great.

“She needed to work on her emotional life. She needed to learn tools on how to deal with Justin (Bieber) and letting go of that relationship,” the insider adds. “This is the first time she’s ever taken the time to deal with issues, to deal with herself, with a therapist.”

Selena Gomez presently appears on the March issue of Seventeen magazine, and within its pages says “If you’re able to look yourself in the mirror every day with the decisions that you make, that’s where power starts. And sometimes you’ll have moments where you feel weak, but they’re supposed to encourage you,” she continues. “They’re supposed to push you and motivate you. I feel like that’s something that I always try to do is look at myself in the mirror and really what I’ve done and every day what decision I wanna make.”

Selena really seems like one in a vast number of very young Hollywood celebrities who has her act together. She’s grounded, smart and has the backing of strong family values and ties. Hopefully she holds fast to all of these assets, and doesn’t hesitate to take a two-week rehab break again in the future if she feels the need arise.
