Selena Gomez’s relationship with One Direction singer Niall Horan might be the result of an ulterior motive–at least that’s what Hollywood Life reports.

It was just about the time fans starting believing a reconciliation between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber was imminent that she was spotted kissing Niall Horan and he was seen with the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star.

“Thank God [Selena] has Niall to help keep her busy, this way she can focus on her own love life instead of trying to keep up with Justin’s,” a source tells the publication.

Last month Justin Bieber was seen serenading Selena Gomez in a Beverly Hills hotel lounge. He sang “My Girl” to the former Wizards of Waverly Place star, and melted the hearts of all who witnessed the moment.

Fast-forward to December 4, when Selena Gomez and Niall Horan were seen kissing at Jenna Dewan-Tatum’s birthday party. The following day the two were spotted at the Santa Monica pier.

Hollywood Life reports that Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were, in fact, dating when he started cavorting with Kourtney Kardashian.

Does all this equal a love triangle between Selena Gomez, Niall Horan, and Justin Bieber? And what is Kourtney Kardashian’s role in all of this? Is Justin Bieber a rebound fling following her almost-10-years with Scott Disick?

Do you expect Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber will wind up back together? Or might these interim relationships put an end to any notion of that? Do you think Selena Gomez is with Niall Horan solely because of Justin Bieber and Kourtney Kardashian?
