Hall of Famer and former member of one of the greatest dynasties in the history of basketball Scottie Pippen went on ESPN’s Mike and Mike this morning and said something that has absolutely blown up on Twitter.
He said that LeBron James is better than his former teammate and NBA god Michael Jordan.
“”Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play in the game, but I may go as far to say LeBron James is probably the greatest player to ever play the game. Not only can he score at will, but he keeps everybody involved.”
He went on to say that, “LeBron James will dominate the game on the offensive end and he’s able to do it on the defensive end as well. He can get in those passing lanes and dominate the game.”
Oh snap.
Pippen has rattled of a series of tweets defending himself to the heat he is taking for his comments:
For all of you that don’t know , I played the game you keep watching and cheering.
Don’t get me wrong, MJ was and is the greatest. But LeBron could by all means get to his level someday.
Every NBA generation has a new set of stars and LeBron is there as the best all around player in the game.
“Scottie Pippen” has been trending pretty much all day, and the hashtag #scottiepippentweets is also a top trend on Twitter. It seems to be an odd combination of obviously untrue statements and the Kanye West “Imma let you finish meme.”
#scottiepippentweets Phil Jackson won a lot of games, but Kevin McHale could be the best coach of all time
C’mon guys, the man did play with Jordan. He was simply stating an opinion.. Maybe a little too early in LeBron’s career to make that statement but it’s definitely not a crazy stance to take. Too bad Kobe’s probably better than both of them.
