It was first brought to light on Reddit that people who paid the $4.99 on the Apple app store for Rock Band were being pushed a message that said:
“Dear Rockers,
On May 31st, Rock Band will no longer be playable on your device. Thanks for rocking out with us!”
Well as it turns out, EA released a statement today explaining that “Rock Band for iOS will remain live – the in-app message users received yesterday was sent in error. We apologize for the confusion this caused. We’re working to clarify the issue that caused the error and will share additional information as soon as possible.”
The intranets did not approve of the original message and summarily burst into flames!
@eamobile, this is not an acceptable way to treat your customers who paid for a game. http://t.co/cT8ucGVO
HeyMost people are calling BS and saying that this is a classic case of back tracking by a major corporation who had “internal analysts” telling them it would be cheaper to take down, or that no one would care. But instead EA cemented itself as the worst company in America.
