Ever since the news spread that R&B crooner Robin Thicke was separating from his actress wife Paula Patton, he’s been in the news probably more than he’s ever been before, and that’s counting this past summer when his hit “Blurred Lines” was coming out of every radio speaker, car window and television set in America.

And since he’s been in the press so much and everybody wants to know just what went wrong, Thicke has been doing his best to lay low and he’s even canceled a few concerts since making the separation announcement.

However, he must have cleared his head a little bit, because he picked up his tour again and performed for a crowd in Fairfax, Virginia, and that’s also where he spoke about him and Patton for the first time publicly. You can see the video here.

In the brief mention about Patton, Thicke told the audience about the separation and said he still holds the actress in high regards, and he hopes the two of them can still patch things up. “For y’all that don’t know, me and my wife separated, but I’m trying to get my girl back. She’s a good woman,” he said.

The 36 year old singer also told the audience that Patton wanted him to reveal his plans of trying to get her back, so making the announcement and discussing where the two of them stand wasn’t all Thicke’s idea.

Then he broke into the song “Lost Without U,” and dedicated it to Patton, and before he began, he said the song was hard to sing these days, especially in front of a big audience, and it was equally hard to even talk about his marriage in the first place.

Word of the separation between Thick and Patton came earlier this week, after months of speculation about the couple having problems, namely due to the singer’s rumored infidelity. However, those claims were never confirmed or denied by Thicke or Patton, as they’ve done a good job of keep the details of their separation out of the press.
