Though the Resident Evil website still lists a November 20th release date, a trailer leaked online has revealed an October 2nd release date for the title. According to Joystiq, the trailer comes from Capcom’s press event Captivate, held in Italy. Whether this means the European release date will be moved up only, or whether this is a worldwide release date is unknown. What is known is that the game will be released for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 sometime this fall. Expect a statement of clarification from Capcom soon.
According to the Resident Evil website, Resident Evil 6 takes place ten years after the Raccoon City incident. Leon Kennedy is close by when the President is transformed by a biological terror attack. Meanwhile, Chris Redfield is in China attempting to thwart a different bioterrorist attack. This will be the first Resident Evil game bringing Leon and Chris together. The scope of the game seems to be ambitious as well, with the site calling it “[a] relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale.”
View the trailer below for yourself, Italian subtitles and all. Be forewarned, though, the trailer is long and in the style of a movie trailer. That means some character reveals, story points, and a glimpse of what the “C” virus actually does are slightly spoiled.
