Reba McEntire’s father has died at the age of 86.
According to a post on the country music superstar’s Twitter account on Friday, October 24, Clark McEntire passed away on Thursday night in Oklahoma. “Daddy passed away last night in Coalgate, OK at 11 pm CST, she tweeted, and linked to a longer post with a photo of her father and mother riding their horses on Instagram.
She explained that her father’s health had been declining, and he had been living in a nursing home for the past several years.
“Daddy passed away last night in Coalgate, OK at 11 pm CST. He had been in the nursing home for a while and we’re very thankful he is not suffering anymore,” she wrote.
“He was a born and bred cowboy through and through. He had been sick for 5 years,” she added. “It makes total sense to me, he always told us kids never to run your horse to the barn. He was just taking his time to go on home.”
Brown’s Funeral Service in Atoka, Oklahoma will be holding the ceremony. Funeral home director Eddie Brown revealed that the services will take place on Wednesday, October 29.
