Wii U owners – your suffering is almost at an end. After Ubisoft delayed Rayman Legends from its original late February release date, you’ve had to wait almost six months to get your platforming action on. Now the title is almost upon us, and more gamers than ever will get to experience what is shaping up to be the best platformer of the year.
Today, Ubisoft released the launch trailer for Rayman Legends ahead of its September 3 release date. The title, now coming out for the Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, PS Vita and PC, has been hotly anticipated ever since it was first shown off for the Wii U back at E3 2012.
So, how does a game that was originally built with the Wii U in mind transition to non-touch based consoles? In the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of the game, Murphy is controlled by the AI and the player activates his abilities through timed button presses. It’s a suitable replacement for the lost touch controls and one that many fans of Rayman Origins without a Wii U will no doubt appreciate.
Oh, and Wii U owners who downloaded the free Challenge App will receive a nice surprise in the form of an exclusive costume for Rayman in return for their commitment to the title after the delay. It’s a small gesture, but one that will hopefully convince Wii U owners burned by Ubisoft to still pick up the title and support one of the most imaginative games of the year.
