Rachel Weisz has been busy. The British-born actress has 2 movies slated to compete at next month's Cannes Film Festival.
The Mummy star is one of the most versatile actresses around. She has done everything from action to drama to horror and has shown that she acquits herself well in any genre.
And she'll be showcasing that versatility again next month when she pits her talents against Jane Fonda and Michael Caine in La Giovinezza. She's also in The Lobster with Colin Farrel.
La Giovinezza is a poignant film about two old friends, a conductor and a film director, who are on vacation in the Alps. It follows their interaction with their children and other hotel guests. Aside from Weisz, the Italian-directed movie boasts of a powerhouse cast.
The star then goes pseudo-futuristic in The Lobster with Colin Farrel. The movie, by Greek filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, mixes sci-fi with comedy, romans and drama. Set in the hopefully not so near future, The Lobster is about a world where "single people are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days or are transformed into animals and released into the woods."

After her foray into Cannes', Weisz goes back to what she does best – tugging at our heartstrings.
The actress is currently filming M.L Stedman's novel The Light Between Oceans. Stedman's riveting masterpiece has been on the New York Times bestseller list for a while now. The novel tells the story of a lighthouse keeper and his wife who finds a baby, along with a dead man, in a rowboat that was washed ashore. Michael Fassbender portrays the lighthouse keeper while Weisz is a woman living on the mainland whose husband and baby daughter mysteriously disappeared.

And if you still can’t get enough of the beautiful actress, Weisz is also working on two other projects – a biopic about yachtsman Donald Crowhurst and an undetermined project that will be helmed by Joshua Marston (Maria Full of Grace).
