  • Little Prince George  has been the topic of interest ever since his father, Prince William, shocked everyone after making his final decision as to who would be Prince George’s godparents. William named his cousin Zara Phillips as a godparent, along with six other friends. Now with the godparent reveal being behind them, the family gathered for Prince George’s baptismal ceremony on Wednesday, October 23rd. The ceremony was held at the Chapel Royal at St. James’ Palace in London.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge worked together in helping to construct the ceremony. The Duke and Duchess chose two hymns, two lessons, and two anthems for the christening. The two hymns chosen for the ceremony were “Breathe on Me, Breath of God” and “Be Thou My Vision.” The lessons chosen for the ceremony were St. Luke 18:15-7 and St. John 15:1-5. The two anthems chosen were “Blessed Jesu! Here We Stand” and “The Lord Bless You and Keep You.”  Additionally, Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton, aunt and uncle to Prince George, each recited a reading.

Catherine Middleton arrived and walked into the ceremony looking dashing as ever. Middleton entered in a top-of-the-knee-length, cream-colored coatdress with matching hat and rose-colored clutch. Prince William wore a navy blue suit with a light blue tie.

William was seen gently holding his son as everyone viewed the bouncing bundle of joy in his elaborately-designed christening gown. Shortly after emerging with his son, William was heard answering a question about how the new prince has been faring. William replied, “So far, so good.”

Having the baptism performed at St. James’ Palace holds special significance for William, as it was the resting place for his mother in the days leading up to her burial. The baptism was performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.
