Pippa Middleton, sister in-law to England’s Prince William, recently made a possibly flattering remark about Kim Kardashian’s butt. Now Kim Kardashian has returned the favor.
Pippa Middleton writes an occasional piece for The Spectator. In a recent article, she made a passing mention about Kim Kardashian’s now-famous “break the Internet” photo. Some outlets characterized her comments as a diss of Kardashian, others as complimentary.
“No year is complete without a bottom story, and the ‘Rear of 2014’ award undoubtedly goes to Kim Kardashian, after her posterior exploded all over the internet last month. I must say that mine — though it has enjoyed fleeting fame — is not comparable. But the Kim butt story did make me pause. What is it with this American booty culture? It seems to me to be a form of obsession. Kim’s aim, apparently, was to break the internet, but I’m not sure she’s going the right way about it.”
Middleton seemed to phrase her comments carefully. She said that her own bottom “is not comparable.” Did she mean in quality? In size? Her comment about Kardashian no “going the right way about it” leaves this a bit up in the air.
She did clearly question the “American booty culture,” but who doesn’t? Middleton found herself the object of some attention about her own butt back in 2011 when she walked with her sister in her royal wedding. Her bridesmaid’s dress was said to be a bit clingy on her bottom. Later she would comment that it was a bit embarrassing.
“It was completely unexpected. I think the plan was not really for it to be a significant dress,” she told Matt Lauer. “[It was] really just to sort of blend in with the train. I suppose it’s flattering. Embarrassing, definitely. It wasn’t planned.”
For her part, Kim Kardashian took the comment in the best way possible. And she complimented Pippa in turn.
“I love her,” Kardashian told E! of Pippa. “She has an amazing booty. She’s beautiful.”
