Pinterest announced the launch of a new feature that lets users move multiple Pins to different boards. This, the company says, is a present to users for the holidays, as it’s been a highly requested feature.
“Now, Pinners can copy, move or delete many Pins at once,” a spokesperson for the company tells WebProNews. “As people Pin more and more, this will make it easier to quickly organize Pins around their favorite collections. For example, say you’ve created a Food & Drink board that has become unwieldy, and you want to move the holiday cocktails to their own board. Now you can move them all at once.”
“The organizational feature was built by Albert Pereta and Cesar Isern from the Icebergs team we acquired this summer,” the spokesperson adds. “This was a significant engineering challenge as each bulk action is doing many tasks at once, and with each movement the Pins need to be quickly moved, copied or deleted from a board.”
Pinterest announced the Icebergs acquisition in July, and shut down the service in the process, in order to have its engineers work on Pinterest itself. Apparently this is what they’ve been up to.
Users on the web will get the update over the coming weeks. It remains to be seen when it might be available for Pinterest’s mobile apps. More on how to use it on the Pinterest blog.
