If you are one of those people who is afraid of clowns, beware: the original Ronald McDonald was much scarier than the current one.

Found on a site full of rare photos from history, this particular picture shows what McD’s thought was the height of marketable mascots to kids back in 1963: a terrifying man in grease paint and stripes.
