Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder are engaged after a whirlwind romance and are said to be “crazy happy.”

It has been a fast series of events leading to Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder’s engagement from when they were first spotted together at a farmer’s market.

However, it is not surprising that Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder decided to make it official, especially considering their love-fest played out on social media and what friends have to say about their relationship.

“They’re so happy,” a source told E! Online of Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder’s relationship. “They were crazy happy from the start. Their families love each other. It just feels really right.”

Ian Somerhalder dated his Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev for several years, but they never seemed to have the same chemistry the he has with Nikki Reed. It was apparent from the beginning that he was crazy in love with Nikki Reed, especially from his Instagram posts on his admiration for her.

The newest addition to the family. Her name is Sohalia. Thank you @iamnikkireed for finding us this amazing kid in Conyers Georgia. Unfortunately this little kid was wildly mislabeled as "feral/not friendly", and had Nikki not gone in and opened her cage regardless, we would have never found out that she is the most loving kitty on the planet and she may have been put down. The point is this; because shelters are so understaffed, this happens more often than not. Let's encourage the people who work at shelters and people whom make policies for shelter workers to take more time to get to know the animals that are brought in, so they can properly inform potential adopters. Also, if you are thinking about adding a new member to your family, know that there might be more to the animal than what's written on their cage!!! Go have fun and adopt! Send me pictures please! Niki Reed was formerly married to Paul McDonald of American Idol fame, but the couple divorced after two years of marriage in March 2014.

One common interest that seemed to bind their love for each other is Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder’s love of animals, as can be attested on their social media accounts.

Went to the animal shelter today to give some love to the babies living in cages who don't have homes and ended up adopting this little girl! What should we name her?

No word yet on any of the details planned for Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder’s trip down the aisle, but it wouldn’t be too far-fetched to assume they may marry on the farm they call home in Georgia.

At Rockdale County Animal Shelter in Conyers GA, the place we adopted little Sohalia from just last month. Some of these amazing kids have little to no chance at ever finding their forever home. For example, sweet Brooklyn, a black lab, has been waiting for months with no luck simply because of her coloring. We just spent a few minutes playing with her and she was so excited she couldn't even hold still for a picture. Can anyone pick her up? Please please go get this beautiful girl if you're looking to adopt. Add her to your family! We would take her but we don't have any room!
