Nextcloud has announced it is has joined the Dutch Open Source Business Alliance (DOSBA), to better educate public and private organizations on the sustainable open source use.
Nextcloud is a popular cloud platform that provides an open source alternative to Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, and other commercial options. Nextcloud provides storage, office capabilities, task management, PIM tools, collaboration tools, and a host of other capabilities, thanks to a healthy ecosystem of add-ons.
The EU, and the tech industry in general, is increasingly looking at open source alternatives to Big Tech, putting Nextcloud in good position to gain market share.
We are pleased to share that Nextcloud has officially joined the Dutch Open Source Business Alliance, the newly established branch organization for professional open source companies in the Netherlands.
DOSBA brings together organizations committed to strengthening the role of open source in the Dutch digital landscape. One of its goals is to help Dutch organizations, from government bodies to businesses, find their way around the growing open source ecosystem and to connect them with trusted software and service providers.
As part of this network, Nextcloud looks forward to contributing to the visibility and accessibility of open-source solutions in the Netherlands. Our involvement also complements our longstanding support for similar initiatives, such as the Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) in Germany and APELL (Association Professionnelle EuropƩenne du Logiciel Libre) on the European level.
“We see a growing momentum for open source in the Netherlands, both in the public and private sector,” said Nextcloud CEO Frank Karlitschek. “By joining DOSBA, we want to support that development and help build a stronger, more connected open source ecosystem in the country.”
“Nextcloud joining DOSBA is a great example of how we are bringing together key players in the open-source field,” added DOSBA board member Pieter Izeboud. “Their experience and European perspective are valuable assets to our mission to establish open source as a serious and professional choice in the Netherlands.”
