In the absence of a live-stream feed of Apple’s big announcement today, many people resorted to sites live-blogging the event or Tweeting reactions and updates. In fact, shortly after Tim Cook said that the iPad is the “poster child of the post-PC world,” the term “post-PC” instantly became one of the top trending topics on Twitter.
More, as the presentation led into the new iPad, “Apple TV,” “keynote,” “iOS 5.1,” “Post-PC,” “Retina Display” (probably the first and last time that phrase will trend), “A5X,” “Voice Dictation,” “No Siri,” “Infinity Blade,” “Epic Games,” “Xbox 360 or the PS3,” “#iPad3,” “iPhoto,” “iMovie,” and “Tim Cook” all were phrases used at the conferences and all became top trending topics worldwide on Twitter. With how every single feature became a new trending topic on Twitter, Tim Cook or Mike Capps could probably have repeated “pancake meth cars” and it’d be a trending topic.
What’s more intriguing is how you can almost watch the color of the public’s mood ring change by the end of the announcement. In the beginning, the live-tweets coming from the event were much more excited than the end, where the tweets took on an impatient and sardonic tone. The general consensus also seemed to reflect frustration for the fact that Apple dragged out the presentation without actually sharing the name of the new tablet.
