When the Maersk Alabama was boarded off the coast of Somalia in 2009, the events that followed read just like an action or thriller movie. Pirates, a defiant crew, both seaman and pirate hostages, an escape attempt, and a final, dire end to the pirates at the hands of U.S. Navy SEAL snipers. That story will now, finally, be told on the big screen in the upcoming Captain Phillips.
The movie stars Tom Hanks as Captain Richard Phillips, who was taken hostage for days on a small lifeboat following the boarding of the Alabama. The latest trailer for the flick is out this week, and it shows a bit more of how Phillips’ hostage situation will be portrayed. The first half of the trailer also previews the initial boarding, which was also shown in the first trailer for the movie.
