Netflix announced that it has signed a deal with Adam Sandler, which will see him produce and star in four exclusive feature films for the company.
Netflix is getting down to business in the movie industry now. Earlier this week, the company announced a deal with The Weinstein Company for its first original feature film, a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos said, “People love Adam’s films on Netflix and often watch them again and again. His appeal spans across viewers of all ages — everybody has a favorite movie, everyone has a favorite line — not just in the US but all over the world.”
“When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only . Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks,” said Sandler. ”Let the streaming begin!!!!”
You obviously have to read that quote aloud in a “Chlorophyll? More like borophyll” kind of voice.
Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions will work with Netflix to develop the four films, which will debut exclusively on Netflix in all its territories.
No specific titles for the films have been announced yet. Personally, I wish they’d bring back Remote Control.
