Netflix continues its international expansion today with a launch in the Netherlands. We heard back in June that the launch would come this year, and yesterday, the site went live. Now, Netflix has made the official announcement.
“We’re proud to bring the future of television to the Netherlands,” said CEO Reed Hastings. “The Dutch have incredible broadband, but until today have not been able to take full advantage of their fast connections. Now people in the Netherlands can subscribe to Netflix and instantly watch great TV shows and movies anywhere, anytime, for one low monthly price.”

Netflix’s original shows will be available of course, and titles like Dexter, Homeland, Lost, Modern Family, Pretty Little Liars, Spartacus, The Vampire Diaries, Luther, Sherlock, The Killing and The Bridge will be available in the Netherlands. Netflix also touts movie titles like The Kite Runner, The King’s Speech, Kill Bill 2, and The Expendables.
Netflix has over 37 million members, and this is the 41st country it’s available in. Last October, Netflix launched in Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. Prior to that, it launched in the UK and Ireland. It hit Latin America and the Caribbean in 2011.
