If you’re a child of the 80s, you know what Popples are. They’re adorable little stuffed animal-like things that roll up into balls. I think I was in kindergarten or something when they came out.
It was also a Saturday morning cartoon.
Well, they’re back. Saban Brands and Netflix just announced a 26-episode run of a new original series, which will debut next year.
“We look forward to debuting this new Popples series to children around the world,” said Haim Saban, Chairman and CEO of Saban Capital Group and founder of Saban Brands. “Netflix continues to be a great strategic partner, delivering compelling content that kids can enjoy anywhere and everywhere. With the global reach of Netflix, we know Popples will reach a whole new generation of kids that will love it as much as their parents.”
“Saban Brands has made history producing iconic and globally recognizable kids shows like Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation and the new Julius Jr. series,” said Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer. “We are excited to expand the relationship we enjoy together around the world with the launch of Popples as a new Netflix original series for kids.”
Now, here’s to hoping Netflix can resurrect the Wuzzles. They do have a pretty solid relationship with Disney.
