Funnyman Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney are expecting their second child together. Kimmel made the announcement on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, which will air later on this week.
“I’m having a baby….wait, I want to finish….with Ellen,” said the 46 year old. “No, I decided to have the first one with my wife. We got married in July, and you know, it’s interesting. It’s disgusting the way babies are made.”
Just to make sure people didn’t think Kimmel was merely joking around, DeGeneres circled back and asked if he was serious. “Well, first of all, let’s take that in because they don’t know if you’re serious or not,” she said. “You and Molly are having a baby and that’s very exciting.”
Kimmel and his wife have yet to find out the sex of the baby, but that didn’t keep the late night talk show host from coming up with some names already, even if he was only kidding. “Depending upon the sex of the baby, Karate or The Riddler are the names we’re thinking of right now,” he stated playfully.
Although his wife is anxious to know whether they’ll be having a son or daughter, Kimmel says he can wait and he’s baffled at why people are so eager to find out.
“I would like it to be a surprise and my wife, Molly, was happy with that idea until about a week ago [when] she started saying we really need to find out,” he explained. “But I don’t think it matters. I don’t think you need to make the baby’s room blue or pink, I mean it’s kind of–it’s inherently ridiculous. I don’t think they could even see colors, right? I mean, or is that dogs I’m thinking of?”
Kimmel married McNearney in 2013, a little after ending his seven year relationship to comedian Sarah Silverman. McNearney is a co-head writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
