Miss Universe was crowned Sunday night–and then another contestant was crowned as well. Host Steve Harvey inadvertently read the wrong name first–crowning the first runner up as the pageant winner.

Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevaio was named the winner of the Miss Universe Pageant and was already wearing the crown when Steve Harvey returned to the stage and apologetically announced he read the wrong name.
At that point, last year’s Miss Universe removed the crown from Miss Colombia, and placed it on the real winner’s–Miss Philippines–head. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is now the reigning queen.
Miss USA was the second runner up.
Can you imagine how humiliating it must have been for Miss Colombia to be crowned the Miss Universe winner, and then to relinquish the crown to its rightful owner? And can you imagine how bad Steve Harvey likely felt, knowing the pain and embarrassment his mistake must have caused?
Do you suppose Donald Trump is reveling in the mistakes made at tonight’s Miss Universe Pageant? This is the first pageant to air since WME-IMG acquired the The Miss Universe Organization from Donald Trump in September, following his disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants earlier in his campaign.
