Steve Harvey’s legendary Miss Universe blunder, in which he mistakenly announced Miss Colombia as the beauty pageant’s winner, got spoofed during this year’s People’s Choice Awards.

The night’s emcee, actress Jane Lynch said she would give a special award to someone who has never won a People’s Choice Award before. That deserving recipient was actor and comedian Thomas Lennon from The Odd Couple.
Lennon came up on stage, surprised and seemingly humbled by the recognition, but his acceptance speech was interrupted when Lynch took over the microphone to announce there was a huge mistake.
“I’m sorry, I have to apologize here. First runner-up is Tom Lennon. The winner is MISS COLOMBIA,” Lynch announced to crowd’s cheers.
A fake Miss Colombia took center stage and snagged the trophy from the shocked comedian.
“Listen, it’s my fault. I didn’t bother to come to dress rehearsal. Man, I just read the card wrong. I’m so sorry,” Lynch told the crowd, poking fun at Harvey’s huge Miss Universe fail.
Miss Colombia Finally ‘Wins’ at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards
Many are wondering how the real Miss Colombia is now feeling as the experience of being stripped of the title of Miss Universe after just a few minutes was surely embarrassing for Colombia’s representative, Ariadna Gutierez.
Miss Colombia reportedly told Univision that she “cried a ton” after she was de-crowned.
“I went up to my parents’ room and obviously, I was very sad, I was in bad shape, I was crying. I cried a ton that night,” she confessed.

“In four minutes they destroy your dreams, they throw it in a bag, and they throw it in the trash,” Gutierez said, disappointed with how the situation was handled.
Gutierez also said mistakes are bound to happen on live TV and that she forgives Harvey.
“Maybe the way it was written, it was a little confusing. I understand. It was his first time to judge a pageant, but it’s OK. He’s human. People make mistakes,” said Miss Colombia.
