Confession time: I got bored of Minecraft really fast. It just wasn’t my cup of tea as I lack any kind of the imagination that made Minecraft such a hit among players in the first place.
With that out of the way, it’s about time I pick up Minecraft again. I don’t particularly care for the creation aspect of it, but playing the game in a pre-built world sounds mighty fine to me.
That’s what the team at genGAME did with Hyrulecraft. They have recreated the entirety of the overworld map from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Minecraft.
From the trailer, it appears that they have truly recreated everything on a 1:1 scale with the original. They apparently have even recreated a few of the dungeons with Inside the Great Deku Tree featuring prominently at one point in the video.
The Minecraft mod is currently in Alpha and in playable form. You can download it here.
While Ocarina of Time is not my favorite Zelda game, that distinction falls to Wind Waker, the ability to see Hyrule from the perspective of Minecraft is extremely tantalizing.
Download it and tell us what you think!
